Our students as young as 6 months learn how to hold their breath underwater and roll on their back to float for an indefinite amount of time. At 12 months old we begin teaching them how to swim short distances; and children 2 year old and older learn how to swim, float, then keep swimming until they reach mom, dad, or a safe place. After being proficient in this survival swimming technique which we call swim-float-swim, we teach them the 4 strokes: freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke.
